Letterman may get his writers back

David Letterman owns his own production company as he has for many years. This puts him at quite an advantage when dealing with strikes. He may be able to make a deal with the writer guild allowing his writers to come back at least temporarily. What an advantage over other shows, he has little guy freedom with big guy power.

“In what may be the first break in the Hollywood writers’ strike, David Letterman is pursuing a deal with the Writers Guild of America that would allow his late-night show on CBS to return to the air in early January with the usual complement of material from his writers, even if the strike is still continuing.” -NY Times
